When I leave the shutter open for thirty, sixty, a hundred and twenty seconds, a whole hour, what enters the camera is not what can be seen. It is what happens: the gesture, the path of the light, time running over the landscape.
I have been photographing for over thirty years, and drawing with light since 2009: the flashlight in my hand, the dark as paper, the open shutter as canvas. No digital compositing, no layering. What you see happened whole, all at once.
