Kumbh Mela

From the plane it looked like a big city, with streets and everything lit. It was not a city.

It was built from scratch on the bank of the Ganges, with a hospital, police, power and named streets. Two months earlier it did not exist. Two months later it would be gone.

While it lasted, it was the largest inhabited place on Earth.
