The person stays still in the dark while I build the light around them, by hand, in a real night setting. It is not a lit body: it is a body inside a structure drawn in real time. Each portrait also holds the time we spent together in that silence.
There is almost always a real person inside the drawing: family, friends, people from the place. In Íris, it is a pregnant woman at the top of the mountain, with a ring of cyan, pink and gold light around her silhouette. In Reflexo (Reflection), the ebbing tide left a still sheet of water, and the figure and the light repeat in it as in a mirror. In Margem (Riverbank), on the banks of the Ganges in Rishikesh, India, a dance unfolds among colored lights.
None of these portraits was made in a studio, and none involves digital compositing: everything fits into a single exposure. The series gathers 20 works, from 2016 to 2023.
